The NCAA’s Willingness to Risk the Lives of the So-Called Student-Athletes for the Almighty Dollar
Dear Parents of College Football,
If it was safe for your son to play football, there would be fans in the stands. The NBA, NFL and MLB players are voicing their concerns about their safety. They make millions, while your son makes Billions for everyone else and he gets nothing.
IF YOU WATCH ESPN, the conversations about college football is very different from professional sports. The conversation about pro sports is “How can a season be achieved and what are the procedures to keep the athletes safe? How many tests are needed? Where liability will be? Compensation.” The NCAA’s answer is to say everyone can choose their own way forward. Spineless. If the NCAA can stop an athlete from being given a meal by a booster it can come up with a plan all schools have to follow in order to get back to playing. Instead, the conversation around college football is “There’s going to be a season. The only question is how many fans will be in the stands.” The decision is going to be up to the very greedy people who are willing to put your son on the field so Tennis, Hockey, and all other money losing sports can continue. The fact that money is even in this discussion is despicable. Disgustingly, down right repugnant. Everything the NCAA has lied about for 50 years is coming full circle. Commissioner of the Big12 Bob Bowlsby said on ESPN’s First Take Student-Athletes health and well-being are going to be put first. How is that? How can he say he’s putting your son’s life first when he’s willing to risk it for a gain your son will take no part in.
The economics say if college football isn’t played, schools will lose an estimated 5 Billion dollars. These schools depend on this money, they will even send your child out to die to get it. ESPN is a co-conspirator. If you notice, all the guests during the day have the same view point on the subject. “The schools are going to play.” No discussion about how testing will be. No speak of how the 150 people per team, staff and players will be separated from others. Some schools have bigger budgets, will they be safer? Where is the liability if a player catches the corona virus and passes away? Or a player catches it but his lungs are never the same? Is the school or the student liable? YES, EVERYONE INVOLVED IS WILLING TO RISK YOUR SON’S LIFE FOR MONEY HE GETS NONE OF.
